On Tuesday 20 August 2024, The Rivertime Boat Trust, a charity based in Henley ,whose specially adapted boat with wheelchair access, hosted eight guests and their carers from the Alzheimer Dementia Support charity for a three hour river cruise which included a picnic aboard.

This group were kindly sponsored by the Misbourne Matins Rotary Club who have supported an incredible 86 outings, hosting 208 individuals on Rivertime over the last six years.

Pip Nowel of Misbourne Matins Rotary Club adds, “Rivertime Boat Trust is a very special charity for me; before he died, my husband skippered Rivertime as a volunteer for six years, from its launch in 2009 until 2015. We will continue to support groups to experience the River Thames for as long as we have the budget to. Our guests from Alzheimer Dementia Support tell us these visits are their most anticipated trips of the year!”

Rivertime Charity Manager Guy Fisher comments, “We are fortunate to have some fantastic sponsors who make it possible for organisations such as the Alzheimers Dementia Support charity to bring individuals on to Rivertime. Our wonderful volunteers, and our full-time skipper Lucy, are all trained to give our guests the best and safest time on the river. This also enables their usual carers to have a brief respite from their care too. This group’s three hour cruise was incredibly special as Pip visited and donated her late husband’s lifejacket and Rivertime jumper to Lucy for our charity to use’.
